TSOPFS keyboardist Rick Benbow about touring
and future prospects for the show.
60 Seconds With ... Rick Benbow
What venue has been your favourite on the tour so far
this year?
The Leas Cliff Folkestone - not only is it home
territory, but I love the fact the audience can get up
close and personal. The Kent audiences are always mad
for Floyd and show it in decibels!
What tracks do you most look forward to performing?
Stairway to Heaven - erm no, sorry, wrong band...
Between you and me (I haven't told the band yet) I'm
waiting for the moment to teach them Atom Heart Mother
(complete!) I have played it several times before but
think it will sound marvellous with the voices this band
has for the choral sections. I'm also lining up Carolyn
to get her Viola out for 'Breast Milky'.
Beside Pink Floyd, what's on your iPod at the moment?
Well the screen broke a year ago so I have near 30GB of
random play list on it! I love the juxtaposition of
widely different tracks, but on a recent journey Nick
finally flipped after having to stomach Captain
Beefheart followed by Abba followed by Mars Volta
followed by Goldfrapp and turned Test Match Special on
instead... Right now I am getting into Os Mutantes -
Brazilian 70's psychedelic Prog Rock!
Any disastrous moments on tour this year?
Having to sit on a pogo stick all the way through the
open air gig in Bucharest!!
Which venues are you looking forward to playing this
Autumn?
Russia definitely. The audiences out there are such fans
and I can't wait for us to return (this time with a new
keyboard player hehe)
One item you can't live without on tour?
A few bottles of Old Farmer Dodgy's Dogbreath Ale or
similarly titled beverage.
Which countries are you looking forward to playing in
the future with TSOPFS?
Lichtenstein. Want to be the first band to have a whole
country attend a gig...
